UV mapping

New UV layout

Baked texture size

Normal map from the originalBakes the original's surface detail into a normal map, in the tangent space Unity, Unreal, Blender and Godot use. With the original UVs kept, it takes the place of the model's own normal map Detail from the base colour

Original UV options

Allow collapsing across seamsReaches lower counts with the original UVs, but the texture can smear at seams Protect texture

Symmetry

Reduce one half and mirror it, so every vertex has an exact partner on the other side.

Hidden areas

Crevices and covered surface get fewer triangles, judged by how much of the view from all sides reaches them. Painted areas keep their paint; the Normal detail brush keeps an area out. Turn it off for rooms and other models seen from inside.

Delete faces nothing can seeRemoves surface that no direction reaches, such as parts buried inside others or sealed-off pockets

Remeshing

Rebuilds the surface as quads whose edges follow its shape, and bakes the texture onto new UVs. Paint More or Less detail to change the quad size there; Keep asks for the smallest quads.

Follow the shape Keep sharp edgesEdges sharper than 45° that run a few quads long become edge loops, so rims and corners stay crisp Keep thin partsLips, eyelids, ears, fingers and cables get quads small enough to stay whole, from up to a tenth of the budget; adds a few poles Remove tiny floating partsOtherwise every separate piece keeps at least a few quads

Reduction options

Stop early at error Optimize vertex positionsMoves kept vertices to hold the shape; less shrinking and melting

Triangle shape

Normals

Crease angle

Welding

Files often store a separate copy of each vertex per triangle corner. Decimators can't collapse those, so they're merged first. Normals further apart than the hard edge angle stay split. Keep the merge distance low: a large one joins separate surfaces that come close, which blocks the reduction and shows as seams.
